Diwali - Festival of lights by Abhay Lodha

There is an auspicious flavour in the air when Dipawali, also known as Diwali, comes every year. It is celebrated on no moon day or Amavasya in the Kartik Hindu month that falls in the October to November duration. This is a five day mega occasion marked by many festivities and rituals. This is considered as custom to clean the house, purchase new clothing, gift sweets, jewelry and dry fruits and exchange Diwali Gifts. There are various new products in the market and there is no shortage of products to select from. However, instead of providing any tangible gift, it would be a great idea to send a gift card. Many companies also provide festival related gift vouchers nowadays This is a great event of happiness which is indicated by rich food aroma as well as fragrances of different agarbatti, chandan, agarbatti and dhoop used during special pujas. Of course, fire-crackers used to play a great role in Diwali celebrations as well. But nowadays, these have become a great headache due to pollution. Without them, Diwali was not considered as complete. Lighting up every part of the house and its surrounding areas with candles, diyas and electric bulbs creates a bright ambience and colorful view. Diwali is believed to provide us the light of knowledge as well as save all from the shadow of ignorance.
